The MBF’s Directors are fellow pilots with your interests at heart. They have a firm understanding of the life you live and the risks you take.
Capt. David Harget - Charperson
I am currently a Simulator Check Captain with Eastern Australian Airlines in Sydney. As a Director I believe it is essential to be strategically innovative in order to guide the direction of the MBF. With good governance we will continue to build on the solid foundations of our MBF, and be able to provide assistance to future generations of pilots.
FO Simon Brownscombe
I am a A330 FO with Atlas. I have been an MBF member for over 25 years and have also served on the AFAP State Branches and various Pilot Councils through most of these years. My vision is that the virtues and benefits of membership must be such that every commercial pilot in Australia will seriously consider and seek membership with the MBF.
Capt. Matthew Nielsen
I am a Captain with Babcock Mission Critical Services Australasia. As a father of five young children, I understand how important the MBF is in providing support during illness or injury. My goal is to continue to work to meet the expectations of the membership in providing improved services, relevant rulemaking and updating administrative procedures to streamline your interactions with the MBF.
Capt. Steven Vidler - Investment Chairperson
I am a B787 Captain with Jetstar based in Sydney. I have been employed with Jetstar since 2005 and have previously worked at Air North, Ansett Australia, Trans Australian Air Express and National Jet. I am currently the Chairman of the Investment Committee. With the backing of a sound MBF Investment Portfolio delivering consistent income and growth, I am committed to continually improving our product whilst containing the cost of member’s contributions.
Capt. Walter Gowans
I am currently employed as a Boeing 737 Check & Training Captain with Virgin Australia. I am also a council member on the AFAP Virgin Pilot Council and have been involved in several EA negotiations as a Pilot representative and negotiator. Serving as a Director on the MBF Board since 2018, I remain committed to maintaining and protecting a strong and resilient mutual benefit fund that can meet its obligations to its Pilot members and their families when in times of genuine need.
Capt. Timothy Glabbatz -
I am a Captain with Eastern Australian Airlines and joined the MBF Board as a Director in October 2019. I am currently the Chairman of the Audit & Risk Committee look forward to learning more about how the MBF operates and assisting my fellow pilots.
FO Matthew O'Keeffe
I am currently a B737 FO with Virgin Australia. Over the last 14 years, I have also worked in General Aviation and Aeromedical. I’m passionate about supporting pilots across the industry. I am also currently a coordinator for the Virgin Australia Connect Pilot Peer-Support Program and a board member of the HIMS Australia Advisory Group (a drug and alcohol rehabilitation pathway for pilots).
Capt. Cameron Tribe
Currently a B737 customer pilot with Boeing, I previously flew for 22 years with Virgin Australia on the B737 and A330 as a Check and Training Captain. As an MBF member for over 20 years, I am a strong advocate for a meaningful and resilient mutual benefit fund to support its pilot members and their families when they need it most, now and in the future.
Capt. Troy Mussio
I am an Offshore Captain with Petroleum Helicopters International (PHI) on the Esso contract in Victoria flying the AW139 helicopter. As an MBF member for 16 years and a previous recipient of Loss of Licence monthly benefits, I can attest to the importance of the MBF and how critical it is for the financial security and ‘peace of mind’ of members and their families.
